Onkyo DX-C390 6-Disc CD Changer

What it is

A six disc CD changer with a carousel tray, so you can change five discs while one keeps playing. It has a 24-bit, 192kHz DAC with VQA and VLSC, optical and coaxial plus RCA outputs, and it plays MP3 CDs and CD-R and CD-RW discs. It has six repeat modes, 40 track programming, and random play across all six discs.

Who it is for

For someone who buys CDs in batches from us and wants hours of music without getting up to change discs, especially for background listening or long sessions.

What to check before you buy

• Check that random across all discs matters to you. That is the feature that sets this changer apart from the five disc changer we dropped.
• Some buyers reported discs getting stuck, the tray not turning, and alignment noises, so test the carousel with all six slots early.
• It has no gapless playback, and track timing can cut early and late on live recordings, so it is not the pick for live albums played start to finish.
• Shuffle can be slow, and the sound and build get good reports overall, so weigh the changer convenience against those quirks.

Why it pairs with used media

We sell CDs by the stack, and a six disc changer is the honest way to play a stack without babysitting the tray. Load it up and let it run.
